Choosing Wedding Colors

Since I'm diving full force into blogging about my super fun, DIY, affordable, BIG wedding, (#hollicon) I thought I'd backtrack just a little and talk about our colors.

We actually chose our wedding colors on accident before we were ever engaged. We had been seeing a lot of red and teal on signs and various other objects, and we both talked about how much we loved the colors. Joseph's an artist, though, so he's pretty open to lots of colors and I'm just crazy and love color.

I first asked, well, can we just have "all colors." A quick Google search displaying a wedding that had gone horribly wrong changed my mind. Then, I went to the teal and red (with various shades in between) idea. I spent about 15 minutes making a "trendy color board" on Pinterest and eagerly showed Joseph just how cool it is! Like this pug...oh my goodness...

He was sold. I was sold, and so once we actually got engaged we just had a quick little, "so, teal and red, right?" discussion and that was that.

Yeah right! He's such a researcher. So he opened an Adobe program and made us an official color palette, after us discussing it for weeks and weeks. The result. Red, the saturated, red, red, kind. Teal...regular teal, leaning to the bluer OR greener side and some mint thrown in because I love it. And then grey, just for outfit purposes.

The end, end result? I bet you'll see a lot of colors at our wedding reception that don't fit this palette, but darn it, I sure will try to stick to the plan! (Except for yellow. Yellow will be there, I promise).

Check out the rest of my trendy color board and drool with me a little over this delicious color combo. Do you like it?

#hollicon is an ongoing wedding series. If you have any questions on choosing color combos or any other wedding topic, Tweet them with #hollicon and I'll addresss them on this blog series!
